Global tuna catch and production statistics
This compares the total catch and aquaculture production of tuna worldwide, based on FAO data. FAO’s classification includes eight species, including bluefin tuna, Atlantic bluefin tuna, and southern bluefin tuna, but excludes sailfish.
Meanwhile, Indonesia, which ranked first in 2021, produced 551,572 tons. Indonesia has maintained its lead since pushing Japan out of the top spot in the early 2000s.
